Using a haiku-generating algorithm I've developed (and I'll be the first to admit it's somewhat sloppy and far-removed from the elegant world of mathematics), I've created haiku based on the words found on the back of Howard Rheingold's Smart Mobs. Here are some of the haiku my code has generated:

sociology
and these literally the
repressive coming

phones within power
everyone's and wielding
in intelligence

within cutting-edge
anthropology and the
in itself itself

of activists of
activism the super
convergence social

coordinating
artificial world hand-held
culture veteran

connectivity
technology that result
literally on

Pretend you're excited~

So I've been doing a project with motion-detection and computer vision in which I pull images off a webcam and then only record the pixels where something has changed from the previous frame over the span of 100 frames (using an opencv absolute difference algorithm). While tweaking the "motion maps" of these images for clear results, I came across a couple of really interesting flukes, which I've decided to share here.

The images were taken from Prejean's Restaurant, in Luisiana, USA. You can view the webcam here.

Here are some of my favorite "flukes":

Here are some of my more refined results:

Is this awesome or is this awesome?

I have lots of stuff to write about, what with returning from Florida, having elves visit and leaving for Japan in just over two weeks, but I'm gonna take it slow. (Mostly b/c if my parents catch me sitting here too long they'll accuse me of being idle and assign some mundane task for me to do.) But anyway. . .

Alex and I decided that we didn't feel like working out, so we went for a walk in Forest Lawn Cemetary instead. It was an amazing idea -- definitely more fun than working out. While walking through the cemetary, we decided (and by that, I mean I decided) to look for the rumoured "tunnel to hell."

We had no idea where to start. I never had a chance to walk through the cemetary before and I have no dead relatives in it, so I had no idea where we were going.
Turns out, we circled through the cemetary in some sort of dimented figure-8 pattern for 1.5 hours, unable to find the damn thing.

I can't remember what I was laughing at in this picture, but Alex caught me off guard. I think this was right before our ice ball fight. ; D

The were ducks and their poop everywhere. I decided to throw ice at them. : D

We continued to follow the creek through the cemetary, but still no luck.

We had just decided to give up and head back. However, due to our figure-8 pattern, we ended up farther down Main Street than when we started. All of a sudden, Alex has the genius to point out "Omg! The creek dissappears under Main Street!" We both looked at each other with the "DUH!" expression and we proceeded to run under the Main Street overhang and LO AND BEHOLD we found the TUNNEL TO HELL.

Omg, we had no idea how bad it smelled. Like, HORRIBLE. I was coughing afterwards for like two hours. But the water looked clear when it came out and it was creek, not sewer, water, so we were still kinda taken back by it. After we got over the smell, we decided to take pictures of ourselves in front of it. Here's Alex looking very much like she can't stand the stench:

And me pretending to walk into the tunnel. lol

And so, after making plans to buy masks and thigh-high rubber galoshes and explore the TUNNEL TO HELL someday, we decided to head back to Canisius. Before we left, I snapped this pic of some lame face in the rock. Because I could.

I need to write in this moar, I guess. Get in shape for using it while I'm in Japan. : )

I want to draw this um. . . somewhat explicit (yet pure!) picture of Tokine, but I have such difficulty with girls and girl figures. Guess now's as good a time to learn as any.

Also, I've been working out for roughly three weeks. Seriously working out. And I can definitely see a difference. Too bad I keep gaining weight. I really hope it's muscle. 'Cause I'm fucking HEAVY now. MAKE EET GO AWAY!!!!

Also.
Hmmm. . . well, I feel much better than I have been. I've made amends with some online communities, and I HAVE A WIRELESS SIGNAL IN MY ROOM AGAIN! I can't get my hopes up, however, as the signal can disappear forever like it did last time. But I'm super-grateful for it. It means that I can listen to trance again! 8D

So anyway, I'm on DeviantART again, if anyone is super-bored. I need to get my life back on track. My parents have been more overpowering than ever, but it's okay if I have the Internet. Sad, isn't it? But then again, watching episodes of Kekkaishi with hints at YoshixTokine make me giddy. lol. This entry isn't making any sense. I'm in a good mood. OMG MOOD SWINGS! Okay, I'll stop. I was orginally going to bitch about my mother in this entry, but then . . . oh wait, dad just walked by and told me I had something or other disease "which means I don't think before I speak." Um, dad? THERE IS NO SUCH DISEASE. But anyway, I guess that proves my point. That my family is insane. Any lesser person would've cracked a long time ago, but I broke in the other direction. I still listen to them so I don't hafta put up with their crap. But whatever. I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL JAPAN! I'm almost completely approved for a loan -- I just need Canisius to sign the loan agreement and I win! I'm so excited. I still need to clean my room before I leave, since my parents will be taking it over before I get back. And by clean, I mean throw half of it out (minus the books). This is my goal. The less stuff I have, the less I hafta pack into boxes for easy moving later.

Mmmmmmmmmmm, trance. IT MAKES ME WIGGLE UNCONTROLLABLY. Oh, that and I spend all my time sleeping, eating, and playing Neverwinter Nights 2. That's it. I sleep for 14 hours a day, eat for one, and then play NWN2 the rest. Pathetic, I know. I need to be drawing and shit. Or doing what little homework I have. (Yes, I'm taking one class, so I have homework.)

I've had a recent dilemma that I was worried about, too, but I am no longer worried -- I think I've come to a decision. I also think I'm gonna pull out my runes again and bind a couple for some sappy people who really need it. Though it's a crapload of time and effort for me.

JESSIE, YOU NEED TO POST MORE PICTURES OF HONG-KONG! And thanks to everyone for their support in my last post -- I felt much better after reading them. I WUVS YOU ALL!
